New hire in one day

A new hire can work on day one when the account, device, MFA, and core apps are ready before they sit down. Tailored Tech runs that as a defined request, not a pile of side chats. HR still owns the offer and the start date. We own the joiners list.

What “ready” means

The person can sign in. MFA is enrolled. Mail works. The laptop is in inventory and on the management agent. They can reach the files and apps their role needs. They know how to open a ticket.

That is a day. A perfect intranet, a branded wallpaper, and every niche tool can follow. Blocking payroll or sales because the CRM add-on was not in the first image is how day one turns into day four.

What we need from you before start date

Legal name, start date, role, manager, location, and which systems they must have on hour one. Whether they need a new laptop or a refresh. Whether they are remote.

Send that as one request, not five emails. The catalog line for new-hire setups exists so this is a known job, not a surprise.

What happens on the day

Identity first. Then the device. Then MFA. Then mail and the two or three apps that define the job. Then a five-minute “here is how you reach the desk.”

If something is missing, it becomes a ticket with an owner. It does not become a hallway conversation that dies when the manager goes to lunch.

How Tailored Tech runs this

New-hire setups and orientations are catalog items on the plans that include them. We keep a repeatable list so the tenth hire of the year gets the same baseline as the first.

Terminations are the mirror image. Same discipline, opposite direction. Do not treat offboarding as an afterthought if you care about the joiner process.

Questions & answers

Questions on this topic

Short answers for buyers comparing options.

How far ahead should we send the request?

As soon as the start date and role are real. Hardware lead time is the usual delay, not the account creation.

Can they start on a personal PC?

Sometimes for a day. It is a weaker baseline. Company-managed hardware is the standard we document.

Who explains how to file a ticket?

We do, in the short orientation. Managers should not be the help desk.
